Learn How to Dive on Fitzroy Island!

The PADI Open Water Diver is the first level of scuba certification. One of our highly-trained PADI Instructor will teach you how to scuba dive in a relaxed, supportive learning environment. By the end of the course, you’ll have the skills and knowledge to dive at home, overseas or back here on Fitzroy Island!

Holidays are also a valuable use of your personal time and at Fitzroy Island Resort and the Fitzroy Island Sports Hub, we understand the value of this time to you. That is why we offer to you our PADI Open Water Course as eLearning. In other words, complete all the theoretical study before you start your holiday because holidays are best spent not in the classroom. All our courses are conducted via the eLearning method.

With your study completed, you’re ready to spend your holiday learning and mastering your dive safety skills. Spread across 3 days you will learn your skills in confined water and then be given the opportunity to demonstrate your mastery of these skills on the 4 open water dive portions of the course.

Choose to stay on the island with our range of accommodation options, or travel from Cairns each day aboard the Fitzroy Flyer.

What You Will Learn

3 days of learning techniques for safe diving including:

  • Breathing underwater
