The Reef Fleet Terminal/Cairns Marlin Wharf is located at 1 Spence Street, Cairns 4870, which is just next to the Shangri-La Hotel at the Pier Marketplace. If you are staying overnight at the Resort and have a vehicle that requires overnight secure parking, we would recommend either parking undercover at the Pier or at the nearby Casino or Hilton, ranging from $20 per overnight park. If travelling to Fitzroy Island as a “day guest”, Council parking is available outside the Pier for $1.80 per hour, or you can park undercover at the Casino or the Pier for about $10 for the day. There is also all-day parking for $2 at the outdoor carparks near Trinity Wharf on Wharf Street, about two blocks away.
The Cairns Regional Council has a dedicated parking page, click here. The council also provide a map showing the location of the carparks, click here.
There are two types of ‘stingers’ in the area: the Irukandji Jellyfish and the Box Jellyfish. They might be present year-round, but there is a higher risk between October and May where jellyfish can be found around the mainland, islands and occasionally the reef.
By taking some simple precautions to minimise risk you can safely and comfortably swim around Fitzroy Island. When snorkelling, diving, or swimming, please wear protective ‘stinger suits’. These suits are available to hire for a small cost. We have stinger/vinegar stations placed around the resort area. If you are stung, please pour vinegar liberally over the affected area and seek first-aid assistance urgently.
Please be aware that we receive very limited network coverage. Whilst some guests have been able to use their mobile network in the open areas of the island, coverage is limited on the rooms. In our experience, the best coverage is at the front of the island on the sand bags near the jetty.
Wireless internet access is provided on a chargeable basis with hotspots located at the Pool Bar, Reception Lobby and Foxy’s Bar. Internet vouchers can be purchased at Reception.
You may bring your food, the Suites and Butterfly Bungalows both have kitchens. However, guests are strictly not allowed to bring their own alcohol for consumption. We offer a bottle shop service from Foxy’s bar and have a small general store for some basic goods, sunscreen ice-creams etc.
Food and beverages can be purchased at the Pool Bar, Foxy’s Bar, Zephyr Restaurant and the General Store. Opening times vary, click here for more information.
There is certainly no shortage of activities available on Fitzroy Island. Our weekly timetables includes kids activities, snorkel tours, guided bushwalks, trivia at Foxy’s and more.
Whilst staying on Fitzroy Island enjoy a day out on the Moore Reef Pontoon with Sunlover Reef Cruises, where you can enjoy 4 hours at the reef featuring an impressive array of complimentary inclusions such as snorkelling, glass bottom boat and semi-submersible coral reef viewing tours, an underwater observatory, marine life touch tank, and a sumptuous seafood buffet lunch.
