“Fantastic snorkeling off the beach”
“This is a great spot for a few days relaxing and snorkeling. The reef at the front of the resort is lovely, with turtles, hard ( many coloured) and soft corals as well as hundreds of fish. Rooms are comfortable and many have kitchens so you can bring food with you from the mainland. There is no sand on the main beach so bring your reef walkers!”
“An amazing must stay for tropical get away”
“No words can describe this luxurious get away, it is a must to add to the holiday itinerary and to extend your already amazing tour of the Barrier Reef. Would recommend if you can to go midweek to get great savings and avoid the crowds, however if not there is still plenty to do, and great entertainment put on by the island to keep everyone happy.”
“Amazing scuba dive”
“Big thanks to Jeff, Tania, Rika and Tim for the friendly service and awesome experience.
I did an open water dive course with the Fitzroy Island dive centre, the crew made everything fun and safe, I highly recommend going out for a dive or even a day snorkelling. You won’t be disappointed
Good job guys!”
Can’t wait to come back!
“To be honest we were nearly not going to come here due to the reviews, but we are so glad we went with our gut and decided to come. We have stayed at Fitzroy island for our honeymoon and it has been an amazing experience. We stayed in one of the beach cabins – it was absolutely perfect. Clean, modern, new and with the most amazing view. We have ate at both Foxys and Zephyrs and all food was amazing, SO fast to come out and all the staff were absolutely amazing. You can tell they are busy and working hard, but they always gave us the time of day and always with a smile on. We are really sad to leave (today is our last day). The beaches and views are AMAZING and like no experience we’ve ever had in Aus (and we’ve stayed at a lot of places). We cannot wait to bring our little one back. Thanks to all the beautiful staff that made our stay one of our most memorable travel experiences to date. If you read the below reviews – make your own decision. If you’re rude and expect a lot – might not be the place. But if you’re happy to experience a beautiful place and appreciate hard working staff – make sure you visit. We will be back. Thank you Fitzroy island! Vanessa & Chris.”
“Relaxing stay at Fitzroy Island”
“Nice place to go and relax. If you want to snorkel and relax with ideally scenery then come here. Has everything you need to unwind.
You can book at day trip to Moore reef or a fishing charter which are excellent. Nice walks into the rainforest.”
“Had a great stay on the island! Tropical paradise”
“Had a great stay last time! Looking forward to coming back! 🙂 The staff were really nice! Great hiking trails, beautiful turtles to see out at turtle beach, and the famous nudey beach!
Great ferry ride, just a short distance from Cairns.”
“Had a fantastic 3-day stay at Fiztroy island. Above expectations …. even with the pool currently out of action for a refurb. Was not too put off by that, a swim-up cocktail by the pool would have been nice, but was always intending to be out snorkelling anyway, so didn’t miss it ! Construction noise was intense, but only during the day and only an issue in and around reception. Couldn’t hear it in our room, and barely noticed it at Foxys.
Room was really nice. Clean, tidy, and very comfortable, not anything like other negative reviews. The resort is doing a lot of refurbishments at present which can only be a good thing.
Staff were all welcoming and pleasant to deal with.
Meal prices at Foxys aren’t excessive…pretty standard these days for pubs/clubs. The serving sizes are quite generous too !! making it good value. Did not dine at Zephyrs, so cannot comment there. Our package had breakfasts at Zephyrs included and they were awesome, plenty of options and made to order. Great fill of food to tackle the day’s activities. For budget conscious, with a bit of planning, you can always BYO food, as the general store on the island doesn’t stock a lot, mainly snacks.
The summit track took my family 2 hrs to complete. They recommend 2.5hrs. It’s a pretty good workout !! Take your water ! Maybe not for the little-uns unless they are energetic and/or you are prepared to give piggyback rides.
Nudey beach (by name, not nature 🍆🍑🥥) is a lovely beach.
Best snorkelling for us was straight out the front of the resort. Follow the white ‘zone’ markers about 3/4 of way from the beach out to the markers (makes sense when you get there). On a single day’s snorkelling we saw 7 sea turtles, an eel, rays, squid, reef shark, and an abundance of fish and coral structures, even a pod of dolphins swam past. Nothing is as good as the outer reefs, but it’s pretty darn nice. Stinger suits were still “recommended” , but the suits also double as awesome sun protection. Don’t use sunscreens that ruin the reef ! 😡 People that complain that all the coral was dead, obviously didn’t venture out far enough.
Having visited at start of May, the resort location is protected from the SE winds and currents at that time of year, making it calm and protected.
And boy did QLD turn on some magic sunsets during our stay.
All in all, we had a great family holiday !! Would definitely come back.”
A must do on the island – May 2022
“Up close and personal with Tommy the turtle was a wonderful way to learn about the Turtle Rehabilitation Centre and what they do. Tania was an engaging and informative host, but Tommy was the star of the show!”
Awesome experience – May 2022
“Awesome experience. Tania was very informative and lovely to speak with answering everyone’s questions :)”

Short and sweet lovely talk and tour
“A short and sweet little tour, you get to view one tank to see a turtle which is undergoing rehabilitation and the guide gives a talk about turtles and the work they do which I found very interesting. Worth a visit to donate to their cause as the work they do is incredible and you’ll get to see a turtle!”
