Five Reasons Why Fitzroy Island is The Ultimate Babymoon Destination

A blissful babymoon in paradise with the one you love is the perfect way to relax and enjoy some quality one-on-one time before your baby’s arrival. And when it comes to location, you really cannot beat the tropical island paradise of Fitzroy Island, located just off the coast of Cairns in Tropical Far North Queensland.

Situated right in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef and covered in a mix of stunning rainforest vegetation and coastal woodlands, Fitzroy Island is truly heaven on earth for a pre-baby escape. Gorgeous tropical weather, exquisite beaches, delicious local produce and the option to do as little or as much as you like just top it off!

And if you aren’t already convinced, take a look now at five reasons why Fitzroy Island makes for the ultimate babymoon destination in paradise:

Incredible Tropical Location

Flying into Cairns is made easy thanks to its Domestic and International Airport; and from there, take a short car ride (just ten minutes) to the Cairns Marina, followed by a 45-minute Fast Cat ride to beautiful Fitzroy Island. Situated in the tropics, right amongst the breathtaking Great Barrier Reef, Fitzroy Island sits in one of the finest locations in all of Australia for a magical babymoon.

Amazing Accommodation Options

Unlike numerous other island babymoon locations in Queensland, Fitzroy Island Resort offers a very wide range of accommodation options; whether you are after a bungalow right by the beach, or a penthouse suite, Fitzroy Island has the perfect babymoon accommodation for you. No matter your preferred room type, all accommodation is tucked right behind the lush rainforest vegetation that separates the resort from the beautiful beach of Welcome Bay.

The Great Barrier Reef is Right at Your Fingertips

Fitzroy Island is the perfect babymoon location if you are looking to explore the magical Great Barrier Reef whenever it takes your fancy. Hire a snorkel, mask and fins and take a romantic snorkel together amongst the fringing reefs that surround Welcome Bay and Nudey Beach. Another fantastic way to explore the surrounding Great Barrier Reef is by hiring a double glass-bottom kayak, where you can gently paddle your way over and admire the magnificent coral and sea life below. Or, if you are after something really cruisy, take part in a Glass Bottom Boat Tour around the island.

Relax and Unwind in Paradise

With two magnificent main beaches, Welcome Bay and award-winning Nudey Beach (awarded number one spot in Australia’s Top 101 Beaches Awards for 2018), Fitzroy Island is the perfect place to relax and unwind together before you welcome your baby. Think gorgeous aqua ocean water, fringing coral reefs, coconut palms and lush rainforest vegetation – all just begging you to relax and enjoy!

Guests at Fitzroy Island Resort also have exclusive access to the Resort Pool (complete with swim-up bar, with delicious tropical mocktails on offer). Relax and unwind by the pool on one of the banana lounges with a good book in hand. Be sure to take advantage of a poolside foot massage, too, for ultimate relaxation mode. The pool is open until mid-evening, meaning you can share a romantic, refreshing dip together beneath a star-lit night sky.

A relaxing babymoon in paradise just isn’t complete without sharing an in-room massage (couples massage is available). Be sure to book this indulgent and relaxing experience in advance.

Picturesque Walking Tracks

Thanks to being 97% National Park, with an array of vegetation including lush tropical rainforest, not to mention unique and fascinating wildlife, Fitzroy Island is home to a variety of lovely walking tracks for a romantic, gentle stroll with your partner.

If you are comfortable doing so, you may enjoy the following two popular tracks on the island:

Secret Garden Track: 1km long and 45 minutes in duration, the Secret Garden Track takes you along the western side of Fitzroy Island’s jetty (located at Welcome Bay). This track is renowned for its magnificent natural beauty, including stunning rainforest vegetation and awe-inspiring, giant granite boulders.

Nudey Beach Track: This tracks happens to be the same length and of the same duration as the Secret Garden Track, however, shall see you exploring the eastern side of jetty, as you work your way towards (and return from) the exquisitely beautiful Nudey Beach. Nudey Beach is a must-see location on your babymoon to Fitzroy Island, as it is one of the most spectacular beaches in all of Australia.
