Fitzroy Island Nature Wrap – January 2017

Fitzroy Island is a haven for some exotic wildlife and stunning flora.  The island covers 838 acres of which 828 acres is National Park.  Numerous animals and beautiful flora can be observed around the island including the rather unique goanna which regularly roam the island. Yes Fitzroy Island is home to several species of snakes but rest assured none are known to be dangerous to humans and these fellows keep the ecosystem in balance.  If walking through the National Park you are likely to see one of these in the trees.  There is always plenty to see on the island,

David Attenborough’s New Great Barrier Reef Series

David Attenborough’s release of his latest documentary highlights the wonders of Far North Queensland’s Great Barrier Reef. 60 years prior, Attenborough filmed his debut Great Barrier Reef series which he refers to as ‘”one of the most magical places on the planet”. Jasminne & Nico’s Wedding on Fitzroy Island

The lovely Jasminne & Nicholas were married on Fitzroy Island on the 15th of August, 2015. Check out some of their amazing photos below. Jasminne and Nicolas came to Fitzroy Island with beautiful sunshine and the perfect North Queensland weather that makes this region such a popular wedding destination. For the ceremony in the garden, Jasminne’s brother had crafted a bamboo wedding arch, which fit perfectly in the natural scenery of the Welcome Bay Beach. Lauren & Adam’s Tropical Fitzroy Island Wedding

Lauren Mead, 31 and Adam Homer, 27 were married at Fitzroy Island on the 24th of August 2013 in an emotional beach ceremony. The wedding was a 3 day celebration with 140 of the couple’s closest friends and family. Lauren describes the wedding as an intimate celebration spent “laughing and shedding happy tears together.” The newlyweds had a romantic engagement atop of Earl Hill, the beautiful view of Fitzroy Island in the distance made it an easy choice on where they would spend one of the most memorable days of their life.
