Why Fitzroy Island Is The Perfect Babymoon Destination

Traditionally, the word ‘babymoon’ was used to describe the period of time after a baby is born, just like a honeymoon is something you go on after your wedding. It was a time when new parents could take time out to bond with their baby and adjust to their new life.

However, these days a ‘babymoon’ does not actually involve a baby at all, and generally means that the parents-to-be are taking some time out to get away and spend some quality, romantic time together before baby arrives.

Anyone who has had a baby knows how much care and attention they need, so a babymoon is a great opportunity for couples to relax and rekindle their romance. A babymoon enables you to completely focus on each other before your family of two becomes a family of three. It is also a great time to laze around and indulge in sleeping in before sleep itself becomes a distant memory.

So, now that you know that a babymoon is a must-do for every new parent-to-be, the only decision left to make is where to go for your babymoon? Well, below we have shared the reasons why Fitzroy Island is the perfect babymoon destination.

Why Fitzroy Island Is The Perfect Babymoon Destination Intro

Location

Fitzroy Island is the ultimate tropical island paradise, and what a better way to spend some romantic time away with your partner before bub arrives than surrounded by lush rainforest and pristine beaches, in one of the most sought after destinations in the world.

Fitzroy Island is just a short 45-minute Fast Cat ride from Cairns in Far North Queensland, surrounded by the breathtaking Great Barrier Reef. You can have peace of mind knowing that you’re close enough to a major town with all the facilities you could possibly need, but at the same time feel as though you’ve escaped to your very own tropical island and a world away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Rest and Relaxation

If it’s rest and relaxation you’re after, then Fitzroy Island has you covered. You can laze your days away paddling in the calm waters or catching up on a good book on one of the Island’s breathtaking beaches.

Nudey Beach is just a short walk from the Island’s resort and was ranked No. 2 in Australia’s Best Beaches Award for 2017. It is a small stretch of pristine, white sand that slopes gently into the calm, clear Coral Sea and is surrounded by rainforest and granite boulders.

If relaxing by a pool is more your style, Fitzroy Island Resort has a luxurious pool and spa, the perfect place to cool off in the heat of the day or enjoy a cocktail (or mocktail for the mother-to-be) at the swim up bar.

A babymoon wouldn’t be complete without some pampering before baby arrives. Fitzroy Island has its very own in-room massage service, and is without a doubt one of the single most relaxing things that you can do for yourself before all your time and attention shifts to your new baby.

Explore The Reef

Of course, we understand that as much as we all love the sound of lazing away the days on a tropical beach, there is always room for some fun and adventure. Fitzroy Island is located amongst the stunning Great Barrier Reef and is the perfect place from which to explore this magical underwater world.

You can access the beauty of the reef by snorkelling straight off the Island’s beaches, or choose to explore further afield by hiring a sea kayak. If you’re not feeling up to snorkelling, you can take in the sights of the breathtaking coral and sea life on one of the Island’s Glass Bottom Boat Tours.
